Ban Ki Moon’s path becoming Secretary General of the United Nations 유엔 사무총장 has been 50 years in the making 준비된, 형성중의. “It has been a long journey from my youth in war-torn 전쟁으로 피폐한 and destitute 빈곤 Korea to this rostrum 연단, 강단 and this awesome 굉장한 responsibilities.” That journey from South Korea began in 1962 during a Red Cross sponsored trip to Washington.

 

Ban Ki Moon was born to a poor farming family in 1944. He graduated first in his class at Seoul National University and earned a masters degree 석사학 at Harvard University. Your mom must be really proud right about now. “She told me that I didn’t realize that I could have such a wonderful and great son to be born from me.”

 

The 62-year-old Asian diplomat 외교관 will follow in the footsteps of ~ 따라가다 Burma’s U Thant who served as Secretary General from 1961 to 1971. Minister Ban has been described by colleagues as a skilled 노련한 mediator 중재인 and workaholic. “I enjoy working with my colleagues. Sometimes I feel that I need to have more time with my family members.”
